Hey! Thanks for stopping by my donation page! Here's why I'm doing LBL:
Live Below the Line is a fundraising event organised by Oaktree, a non-government organisation composed of young people across Australia, leading a movement to end poverty. With over 150 000 supporters, it is one of Australia's largest youth-run organisations, and it continues to flourish and express the significance of activism and compassion across the board.
Oaktree Club has always been my favourite fundraising club at our school because its motivations and actions align with my want to help others who deserve more than their circumstances, and my belief that everyone has a right to commodities such as food security, clean water, shelter, and education. Now as a Year 12 and Horizons Club Captain (which is both Oaktree Club and World Vision Club!), I really want to make this year the best one, and finish my high school journey with Oaktree with a big BANG!
But what is Live Below the Line?
In Australia, the extreme poverty line is $2; hence, those who live in extreme poverty live on $2 of food or less every day. Live Below the Line is a fundraising event in which participants simulate that experience by eating meals costing $2 every day for 5 days to develop an understanding of the crucial nature of poverty, and spark conversation about what we can do to raise that bar, or eliminate the need for that bar, thus eliminating extreme poverty, entirely.
Live Below the Line donations go towards many facets; 90% of Oaktree's donations are sent to direct impacts on poverty in Cambodia and Timor-Leste, primarily delivering educational resources such as notebooks, stationary, trained teachers and school areas, through their own KAPE scholarship, a program that educates young people and develops them into leaders and teachers.
It's a fun and engaging fundraising event that carries a serious conversation, and it has a real impact on others.
Will my donation make a difference?
Of course! Hypothetically, if every person in the world were to donate $1, we would have $8.3 billion! No matter how small your donation, it makes a difference. Recognise the power you have to help lift others, and create a more just world.
What if I can't donate?
That's okay! I don't expect everyone I know to be able to donate to me. If you can't donate, I sincerely appreciate if you spread the word about the fundraiser, so it can reach more people who may be interested. The power of fundraisers only comes with the power of people, and the more people involved in this fundraiser, the greater the difference we can make.
Let's work towards the end of poverty!

I'm Living Below the Line...Because I believe in a world where education is a human right, but also the best way of empowering people so they can raise themselves out of poverty. I believe in the capacity of young people to be able to make a difference in the world. Live Below the Line will give me a small glimpse into what life can be like with limited choices and through fundraising I hope to play my part in helping end poverty. Please either join me in doing Live Below the Line or Dine Below the Line or donate to me today!
